Recipe for a happy marriage

With the right recipe marriage can be bliss.  Read on to find out the recipe for a happy marriage.

Main Ingredients of a Happy Marriage

  • Amnesia- You had relationships before getting married.  You’ve seen thousands of relationships play out in fairy tales, movies, and in real life.  And you have seen millions of people of the opposite gender.  Forget them all.
  • Esteem- Whatever your spouse thinks is important- is.
  • Dedication- Your spouse shouldn’t feel the need to compete with anyone else for your attention, don’t make them.
  • Identification- When your spouse does something embarrassing, identify with their feeling of embarrassment, not with yours.
  • Decor- Self-control in speech, deed, and appearance, elevates a marriage.  Reserve a piece of your self to share with your spouse only; be deliberate about what you share with others.
  • Teeth- Bite your lip before saying that stupid thing you’ll regret.
  • Admiration- Your spouse has a world of good within them.  Ponder their virtues.  Once you feel genuinely appreciative, share it with them.  They will appreciate it.
  • Fun- Happiness is compelling.
  • Stamina- Strengthening a relationship is like strengthening a muscle, it takes time and perseverance.  So be patient with yourself and, needless to say, your spouse.
  • Prayer- No marriage happens by accident.  The same One who orchestrated all of the circumstances leading up to your marriage, and intended for you to meet before you and your spouse were even born, can infuse blessing into any home.  Ask for it.
